My husband, Jeff, absolutely LOVES Nutella and he is always asking me to come up with recipes featuring Nutella. Jeff also LOVES french toast...so I thought I'd combine the two and make a very quick and easy Baked Nutella & Banana French Toast.

I have to say, I was  extremely  pleased with the results! I don't share his love for Nutella, but  I LOVED this french toast!  It has the perfect blend of  flavors that compliment each other and the slightly crunchy marshmallows on top were perfect! I was afraid the french toast would be too sweet, but it wasn't...in fact it needed that final drizzle of honey or you could use syrup of course.

Baked Nutella & Banana French Toast takes about 5 minutes to throw together and  bakes in 30 minutes. Perfect for throwing in the oven while you get ready for work or school!

The best thing (in my opinion) about this recipe is it uses over ripe bananas!  I don't know about you, but I buy a bunch of bananas only to have them over ripen before I eat them all. Once  they get slightly brown and a tad soft, I throw them in the freezer until I want to make banana nut bread...the problem is, I  hardly ever make banana nut bread! So, you can see why I'm thrilled to have another use for my very neglected frozen bananas!

The bananas do not need to be frozen, but I do recommend using very ripe and slightly soft bananas. This allows the intense banana flavor to come through in the Baked Nutella & Banana French Toast.

After eating this French toast for breakfast, my husband and I began to talk about all the variations to this quick and easy breakfast. Use peanut butter instead of Nutella for a peanut butter banana french toast; top with crushed graham crackers and marshmallows for Smore's french toast; use raspberries instead of banana and top with whipped cream for a raspberry chocolate french toast...you get the idea, this dish is so versatile (and easy) you can turn it into any flavor combination you like! Let me know what ingredients you would use!
